The New Jersey Pest Management Association has put
together a Credentialed (Termite) Inspectors Program
for wood-destroying insects to provide the homeowner,
potential buyer, referring realtor or attorney with
a thoroughly trained, knowledgeable and qualified
inspector. This course which has been in development
for over four years is a comprehensive, challenging
program that tests each inspectors ability to properly
identify and report termite as well as wood destroying
insects. Two years experience is required prior to
taking these tests.
Currently, many inspectors with limited experience
or training are performing termite inspections. Many
are not aware that there are quite a number of insects
other than termites that can attack and destroy wood.
Some of the common ones are old house borers, powder
post beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and
ambrosia beetles. Interesting names and all of them
destructive.
Why Choose a Credentialed Inspector?
Selling or purchasing a home is one of the biggest
decisions you may have to make in your lifetime. A
"termite inspection" is normally required by mortgage
companies, banks, VA and HUD to protect their interests
as well as the buyer. Unfortunately, the State of
New Jersey does not have any rules, regulations, licensing
requirements, training or prerequisites of any kind
to govern those who perform inspections. Literally,
ANYONE who chooses to hire themselves out can perform
a Termite and Wood Destroying Insect Inspection.
How can the homeowner or prospective home buyer select
a trained qualified inspector?
By choosing Heighwood Inspection service, you are
guarenteed to have a Credentialed Inspector working
for you. Every Credentialed Inspector has gone through
a comprehensive, challenging course that tests each
inspectors ability to properly identify and report
termite as well as wood destroying insects. Two years
experience is required prior to taking these tests.
What Special Qualifications Does a Credentialed Inspector
Have?
Each Credentialed Inspector has passed an extensive
wood destroying insect training course that includes:
Complete understanding of subterranean termites Thorough
